Well since graduating in December I have been busy finishing up some projects that I actually started before I started back to college. No certain order to them…just what struck my fancy to be working on at the time.
This is a pre-printed panel that I added the borders and quilting to. I LOVE the colors in this. I have two of these if you want to buy one!! Then I have two more similar panels with the same picture (not this picture) and different borders. They were fun to do.
This is a Maggie Walker design. I love her designs but don’t know that I’ll ever do another one as they are very intensive. Beautiful but intensive!! I started this as a hand applique project and on the third dog I realized some of the pieces were really really tiny…like noses and toenails. So I ended up doing a lot of fused applique and raw edge applique and added a lot of free motion thread work on it.
I call this Amish Sampler. I pieced this a couple of years ago when I got my longarm machine in order to practice my stitching. There is some free motion stitching and some following a stencil design. It was good practice.
This is called Eagle Dancer. It was a block of the month from Southwest Designs. There are a LOT of embellishments and dimensional work on this. I decided not to quilt it heavily because I didn’t want to detract from the design. All those feathers on the center block are two-sided and stand out a little bit. It looks a LOT better in person. Come over and I’ll show it to you!
So now I’m working on a log cabin. One of the girls that I graduated with named Amanda does these wonderful pen and ink drawings that are stunning! Since I couldn’t afford to buy one of them we decided to trade. I’m making her a quilt and she’s doing this drawing for me. I can’t wait to see it. So that’s what I’m working on right now. I still have lots of UFO’s to finish. For those non-quilt people that means Unfinished Objects. Some people call them PIPs for Project in Progress. Either way – they are gonna get done!!
