This is my last semester of school!!! I’m so excited. It’s been a long journey – this returning to college after age 5? something. I started out just to become a better artist, to learn some things about art that I’ve never known and to expand my skills. I’ve been doing that and it has helped me to learn that I still have a lot to learn and it has re-ignited my desire to keep learning. I think I had gotten into a very comfortable place in my life and this college stuff really got me out of my box. I didn’t initially plan on completing the degree – just take some classes. But after getting into it realized that I might as well go for the whole shebang! And now I’ll be graduating in December.
I don’t have any new photos to post. However my professors are letting me use my stitching and fabric for my final senior exhibit. When I showed them the piece called “Teaching” (see previous posts) which was a replication of an oil painting that I did they said…”You need to be doing this”. I was just dumbfounded because I’d showed them some of my pieces throughout the semesters and I guess it just didn’t “click” with them until they saw the oil painting next to the stitched piece. So I’m very excited that I get to spend my last semester doing the stitched pieces that I LOVE to do. But…no photos yet. 🙁 But I’m going to be doing a series of reproductions of photographs of my grandparent’s, parent’s, mine and (in October) my daughter’s wedding photos. I’m still working out the details and sketches but I will do my very best to post in progress photos. I think it will be a very interesting project. And yes…you read correctly…my daughter is getting married in October. Can’t believe it’s almost here!
So please check back between now and December and I’ll try to have some more photos up of what’s happening.
